Biography

Twenty years ago, Tamboly recieved his first camera, his eagerness to photography grew up through experimentation and surveyance. He developed a unique artistic vision regarding the importance of light, design and color coordination in photography.


In 1996 he joined the Faculty of Applied Arts where he studied advertising, printing [[[&]]] publishing and being specialized in the light photography for 5 years. In November 2001 he received his Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences (BAAS) and later on he started working as an art teacher at a primary school, 6 months later he quit this job.


Simultaneously, he started his career as a freelancer and got involved in the art scene by participating in a wide range of photo salons, group exhibitions, biennales and festivals. He also went on various photographic expeditions to, among others, Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Sweden, Denmark, Greece, Switzerland, Cyprus and Turkey.


2003 he gained a professional diploma in graphics, afterwards he worked as an event photographer for different kinds of festivals and events in Zürich, Switzerland.March 2004 Tamboly held his second solo exhibition which turned with a great success with a wide coverage from the media and several interviews on international TVs.


Tamboly started working with medium format cameras, developing his style and intensifying his photographic knowledge. Later he recieved the „Certificate of vocational Achievements“ from Mamoun International University in Damascus for his outstanding achievements in the field of photography.

 

In December 2004 he took part in a huge project from the Sound and Light co. in Egypt, where he created new documentation and creative visuals from the Sound and Light shows in Karnak, Fiela and Abou Simbel.


2005 he was awarded the photography prize from the French Cultural Centre in Rencontré de l’image festival. Tamboly donated five of his photographs to the House of Humour and Satire of Gabrovo in Bulgaria.


He recieved an offer from the Lounge Magazine to take over the interior section and the photo reportage from different events. He later moved to Germany and started to co-operate and work with various artists, fashion designers, ventures and organisations Europe and worldwide.


2006 he resumed working with motion pictures and video production, since then he produced various movies and video clips. Since 2002 Tamboly participated in numerous contests, group exhibitions, salons, festivals and biennales around the globe.


2009 he held a successful solo exhibition tour named „Timeless’’, part of the exhibition visited the Wave Gothik Treffen Festival in Leipzig as well. He displayed his work during the Bohéme Noir Festival in Berlin.


2010 he commenced working with the Metal Hammer and Gothic Magazine. Tamboly shot diverse alternative bands for their promotion and album artwork. In the last years Tamboly succeeded in making himself a name in the music and fashion scene via his art work.


Right now Tamboly is more concerned about creating art work that deals with the situation in Egypt in particular and the middle east in general.
