Stereotypes

I made portraits of men with tough facial features mostly in a feminine historical hairstyle. The goal is to raise awareness of social stereotypes and illuminate how much social media determines how we see another human being from a different background than ours. I made these portraits with different characters with mixed backgrounds and ethnicities. If we cover the bigger part of the picture and try to imagine how these men look, we will have a very different imagination from what the portraits show.

I searched for suitable hairstyles in the internet and 19th centuries art books. The hairstyles I was searching for had to have a unique character and bombastic look to emphasize the contrast.
